NEW DELHI: An assistant director of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for reportedly requesting and taking a bribe of Rs 30,000 in exchange for favouring a man.
A complaint has been filed against Pankaj Kumar, the Assistant Director, DDA, Laxmi Nagar-II, on charges of seeking a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant to clear a file relating to the issuing of a conveyance deed of property in the name of his wife, according to a senior CBI official.
After negotiations, the accused decided to receive a bribe of Rs 30,000, according to the investigation agency. The agency set up a trap for the accused and captured him red-handed. According to the official, searches were conducted at three different sites on the accused's property. The defendant will be brought before the proper court in Delhi.
