Seoul: The British Ambassador Colin Crooks emphasises the importance of working together to hold Russia accountable for the 'unacceptable' invasion of Ukraine. South Korea and other partner countries should "together raise the cost" of Russia's "unacceptable" invasion of Ukraine this week, said Britain's top diplomat in Seoul, who welcomed Seoul's decision to join anti-Moscow sanctions.

Ambassador Colin Crooks condemned Russia's multi-pronged attack on the pro-Western neighbour in a press briefing, calling it "awful acts." "We have to show President (Vladimir) Putin and his regime that these operations are utterly unacceptable," Crooks said in his first media interview since arriving in Korea for the ambassadorship earlier this month, according to reports

"We must collectively raise the penalty Russia must pay," he continued, describing the current situation as a "very dangerous and tragic period" for the globe. According to the ambassador, Britain has been in regular contact with a number of other countries, notably South Korea, to coordinate coordinated measures and penalties against Russia.

"We are working with all of our partners around the world, including freedom-loving countries like Korea, to ensure that Ukraine's rights are respected just like those of any other country," he said.

Seoul announced a plan to join international sanctions against Russia, prompting his statements.
