Broadcast of 30 Pakistani and Islamic channels banned in Jammu and Kashmir

The Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered the cable operators to ban the transmission of the restricted set-up channels for the purpose of maintaining peace in the valley. In this regard, on July 12, an order issued by Additional Commissioner of Police (ADC) of Srinagar was sent to all the heads of cable operators in Srinagar.

In the order, the cable operators have alleged that "in the jurisdiction of Srinagar district, the spread and transmission of unscrupulous private satellite channels are being carried out." The cable operators have expressed disappointment over this decision by the government. The government has asked about 30 channels off-air, more than half of them are Islamic channels, although no one is openly talking, some Force operators have expressed their anger over the social media.
