Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's announcement of inviting All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi to inaugurate a state scheme has sparked criticism from BRS MLC K Kavitha. Expressing reservations, Kavitha questioned the appropriateness of Gandhi's role in launching a government program, emphasizing her lack of elected positions such as MP, MLA, or Sarpanch. Kavitha asserted that BRS leaders would stage protests against Priyanka Gandhi's involvement in the Rs 500 gas cylinder scheme, specifically calling for clarity on the rationale behind inviting her to a government event.

The BRS leader highlighted the usual expectation of inviting senior party figures like Sonia Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi to such functions, understanding their role in party-related events. However, Kavitha expressed confusion over the decision to include Priyanka Gandhi in a government program. The statement underscored the contentious nature of involving political figures in official government activities and the potential for dissent within the state's political landscape.

Addressing a public meeting in Adilabad district, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy sought to reassure the public of the Congress's commitment to fulfilling electoral promises and implementing various schemes for the welfare of the people. Reddy's emphasis on the party's dedication to delivering on pledges further underscored the political context surrounding the decision to invite Priyanka Gandhi for the inauguration, potentially signaling an effort to align the party's leadership with governance initiatives.
