Pathankot: In the early hours of Monday, an intruder from Pakistan was fatally shot by Border Security Force (BSF) officers as he attempted to cross the International Border (IB) near Pathankot. Despite receiving multiple warnings, the intruder continued to advance towards the border fencing, compelling the BSF to take decisive action, as stated by the BSF's Punjab Frontier.

Around 12:30 am, BSF personnel detected suspicious movement in the vicinity of the bordering village of Simbal Sakol in the Pathankot District. In a response deemed necessary for self-defense, the BSF officers opened fire, resulting in the neutralization of the intruder.

This incident has occurred just prior to Independence Day and shortly after another event where the BSF thwarted an infiltration attempt by shooting down an intruder from Pakistan across the Tarn Taran border in Punjab.

On August 11, the BSF had reported observing suspicious activity near the border security fence on the international boundary. In response to the continued approach of the invaders towards the border fence, BSF personnel had opened fire.

In May of this year, the BSF detained a Pakistani national near the International Border in Punjab, while also eliminating two unidentified intruders from Pakistan who had entered Indian territory. During the operation, three bags containing suspected contraband products were discovered.

In the year 2022, BSF soldiers stationed on the Punjab Frontier successfully neutralized two Pakistani intruders, intercepted 22 drones sent from across the border, and seized 316 kilograms of illegal drugs.
