New Delhi : Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, a state-owned telecom service provider, BSNL is going through a cash crisis. The company does not even have the amount to pay its employees on time. Employees did not receive salary until September months.
Unhappy with this, the workers union threatened a one-day hunger strike. BSNL has now said that it will pay 1.76 lakh employees' salaries before September Diwali. BSNL chairman and managing director PK Purwar told IANS that we will pay salaries to the employees through our resources before Diwali.
We earn a revenue of 1,600 crores a month from services. The monthly expenditure on the salary of BSNL is Rs 850 crore. Sources said that although the company earns a revenue of Rs 1,600 crore per month, this amount is not sufficient to cover the salary as a large part of it is spent on operating expenses, etc.
Sources also informed that BSNL is trying to raise funds through government guarantee from banks. BSNL had a net loss of Rs 13,804 crore in FY 2019. Explain that the government is considering a proposal to merge BSNL with MTNL.
