New Delhi: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati has extended support to the women wrestlers who are protesting in the country's capital Delhi. Mayawati has attacked BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and advised the central government to take action. Mayawati said on Monday that the central government should come forward to get justice for daughters.
Indian daughters, who have made India proud in world wrestling, are forced to launch an agitation demanding action against serious allegations of exploitation against the head of the Wrestling Federation of India. In another tweet, the BSP supremo said, "The central government must come forward to provide justice to these daughters."
Olympic medallists Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik and Asian Games gold medallist Vinesh Phogat are among the agitating wrestlers. The protesters have demanded the arrest of former Wrestling Federation of India president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, accusing him of allegedly sexually harassing several women wrestlers. The Delhi Police has registered two FIRs against Singh, one related to the allegations of a minor wrestler and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, while the other case pertains to insult to women wrestlers.
