Gorakhpur: A fake image is being viral on social media to tarnish the image of BJP in the state amid the UP Assembly elections 2022. It is being told that this image is of a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) worker in Gorakhpur, who was burnt alive for not voting for BJP. The fact check team of Uttar Pradesh Police has called it fake.

Along with this, the police has urged people not to spread fake news. Regarding this matter, Gorakhpur Police tweeted and said, "No such case happened. Gorakhpur Police rejects such misleading post. Action has been initiated against those spreading fake news on social media under relevant sections.
Through this photo, fake news is constantly being spread on social media that a Bahujan Samaj Party worker was burnt alive in Gorakhpur for not voting for BJP. A Twitter user named Vikram Singh Badlapur wrote, "A BSP supporter was burnt alive in Gorakhpur today. The police is forcibly pacifying the matter. Its only fault was that when a Bharatiya Janata Party leader asked whom to vote for, the Dalit said – We will vote for the Bahujan Samaj Party. This case is of Narayanpur village of Gorakhpur Rural. Post mortem report was not given. Let it be a fair investigation." However, Twitter later deleted his post, terming it a breach of protocol.
