NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Thursday that the agriculture budget allocation this year is significantly higher than previous years and that it is targeted at comprehensive modernisation of the industry. He also highlighted seven points from the budget provisions.
The agriculture budget has increased by a factor of two in the last six years, and agriculture loans for farmers have increased by a factor of two and a half in the last seven years, Prime Minister said. He also stated that the preparation for multiple schemes discussed during this budget require preparation, which the month of March can be used for, and then "start rolling out right from day one in the new financial year."
The provision for natural farming along the Ganga banks on both sides up to five kilometres, including a push for herbal, medicinal plants, and also horticulture; infusion of modern technology for improving agriculture and horticulture practises; focus on Mission Oil Palm and encouragement to other oil seeds as well to reduce the import burden on edible oil; and incorporating new schemes under PM Gati were among the seven key budget pointers mentioned by Modi.
Modi also mentioned accomplishments such as micro-irrigation, which is a method for lowering input costs and increasing output while simultaneously helping the environment. "In today's world, saving water is a service to humanity. Our motto is "more crop per drop." "This field, too, has enormous potential," he said, appealing to the private sector.
