Tourism is a major area of employment generation. When the government thought for employment, tourism was mentioned in the budget. The development of 5 archaeological sites has been announced in five states of the country as endemic museum paradigm sites. These include development of building infrastructure around 5 major tourist destinations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the revival of the oldest Indian Museum in Kolkata, along with a museum on currency and trade in the historic old mint building.

On Saturday, the General Budget has proposed an allocation of Rs 2500 crore for the tourism sector in 2020-21, and also proposed an allocation of Rs 3150 crore for the Ministry of Culture. The museum proposes to establish the first Indian Heritage and Conservation Institute to develop well-trained resources in the disciplines of science and archeology. The status of this institute will be that of an honorary university and can be operational under the Ministry of Culture.

Development of these archaeological sites will be done in Rakhigarhi (Haryana), Hastinapur (Uttar Pradesh), Sivasagar (Assam), Dhaulavira (Gujarat), Adichanallur (Tamil Nadu). In the selected tourist places across the country, the category in which the Red Fort and Taj Mahal fall, now these five will also be included. Four more museums will be renewed - the budget has announced that four more museums in the country have been renovated and re-curated. Visitors can get a world-class experience. In addition, the Modi government will support the establishment of a tribal museum in Ranchi, Jharkhand.
