Kolkata: Cyclone 'Bulbul' situation in West Bengal is expected to become more severe on Sunday. Home, roads, communications and electrical facilities may be affected during this period. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea until further directions due to severe cyclone failure. Reportedly, the Bulbul cyclone hit Bengal at a speed of 110–120 kmph. After this, more than one lakh people living in the villages of low-lying areas of the state were evacuated safely. Also, 55 thousand volunteers have been engaged for the awareness of people about the storm.

In several affected villages in the state, 200 people from South 24 Parganas district took shelter on Sunday at the Sagar Pilot station in Kolkata, where the staff and pilots of the station served them food themselves. The central government has asked the states to take all possible steps to deal with cyclone 'Bulbul'. The Center has said that it should be ensured that there is no loss of life or property. Due to the devastation caused by 'Bulbul', the movement of planes has been stopped at Kolkata Airport from 6 pm on Saturday evening to 6 am on Sunday. Along with this, ferry services have been banned at the Bichali Ghat in Kolkata on Sunday.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the maritime situation will remain bad for the next 6 hours on the coasts of West Bengal and Bangladesh. Only then can the storm situation be expected to improve. The meteorological department said that the storm remained concentrated in the coastal districts of West Bengal and parts of Bangladesh till 5:30 AM on Sunday. During this, its speed was weak. The department has forecast that the Bulbul storm will move from east to north-east on Sunday and weaken over the next 6 hours. In addition to Bengal, Bulbul can show its impact in the northeastern states of southern Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram for the next 36 hours. During this time, there is a possibility of heavy rain.
