Tripura Assembly elections to be held in the coming days but before this a group of rebel BJP MLAs led by former state health minister Sudip Roy Barman are expected to resign from the saffron party.

According to sources, Sudip Roy Barman and his close friend Asish Kumar Saha would leave Guwahati for New Delhi on Monday. Notably, the rebellious BJP MLAs have recently started to publicly criticise the BJP government's governance in Tripura. Barman and his close colleagues are planning to travel to the nation's capital to plan their political future. They will very probably join a national party, like as the Congress or the Trinamool Congress (TMC). Sudip Roy Barman met with senior Congress leaders in private a few days ago.

According to sources, a number of spurned BJP MLAs, including Barman and Saha, are likely to follow in their footsteps. According to reports, the rebel would meet with top Congress officials in New Delhi on February 10 and then join the party. On February 12, the MLAs will return to Tripura.

Barman and Saha, along by their 'followers,' recently toured several districts of Tripura and talked with ordinary people "who had played a vital role in dethroning the CPI-M) and bringing the BJP to power."
