New Delhi: The Union cabinet authorised the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on disaster management cooperation between India and Turkmenistan on Thursday. According to an official statement, the decision was made at a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The MoU between India and Turkmenistan aims to establish a system in which both countries benefit from each other's disaster management methods. It will also aid in the areas of preparedness, response, and capacity building in the field.
The Memorandum of Understanding envisions mutually beneficial cooperation in a variety of sectors, including emergency monitoring and forecasting, assessment of their impacts, and interaction with appropriate organisations participating in disaster management via competent authorities.
According to the statement, the two countries will collaborate to plan, develop, and implement research projects, exchange scientific and technical papers, and disseminate the outcomes of disaster management research. Within the framework of the MoU, information, magazines or other publications, video and photo assets, as well as technologies, will be exchanged as mutually agreed.
There will be joint conferences, seminars, and workshops, as well as exercises and training in relevant subjects. According to the announcement, there will also be an exchange of specialists and disaster management experiences.
