New Delhi: On Wednesday, the Union Cabinet, which is presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the construction of a metro line connecting Gurugram's HUDA City Centre and Cyber City with a spur line to the Dwarka Motorway.

The project will cost Rs 5,452 crore, said the Union Food and Public Distribution Minister Piyush Goyal, who briefed the media on the cabinet deliberations. The project, which will raise the entire 28.5-kilometer metro line, should be finished in four years.  The Cabinet also decided to raise the Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for kharif crops for the seasons 2023–2024.

The three harvesting seasons in India are kharif, rabi, and summer. Kharif crops are those sown in June through July and harvested in October through November.

The government feels that the increase in prices will encourage crop diversification. The government through its agencies procures crops from farmers from time to time at support prices.

Minister Piyush Goyal stated that a record 330.5 million tonnes of foodgrains are expected to be produced during the crop year 2022–2023.
