Mumbai: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday arrested Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik in a money laundering case related to the activities of the Mumbai Underworld. Nawab Malik was produced before the court where the court sent him on remand of the Enforcement Directorate for eight days till March 3. Nawab Malik's night in custody passed in difficulty. He couldn't sleep and complain of back pain. Then, at around 11.30 p.m., mattresses, blankets and pillows were called for them from their house. An NCP leader arrived at the Enforcement Directorate office with the baggage. Then,  as soon as Nawab Malik could fall asleep.  

Thursday is going to be a day full of turmoil in Maharashtra politics. While BJP will demand Nawab Malik's resignation, NCP, Shiv Sena and Congress will protest against the Enforcement Directorate. After the arrest of Nawab Malik, BJP leader and former CM Devendra Fadnavis said, the entire government (Maharashtra government) is standing behind him to save the country's enemy like Dawood, through which he helped him and to save his ministerial post. This government will have to answer.

The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday arrested NCP leader and Maharashtra Minority Affairs Minister Nawab Malik in connection with a money-laundering probe related to fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, his associates and the activities of the Mumbai Underworld. Thereafter, he was produced before the court from where he was remanded in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate till March 3. He is the first Cabinet Minister of Maharashtra to be arrested while in office.
