Prayagraj: As the Maha Kumbh 2025 approaches, visitors flocking to Prayagraj’s Sangam are treated to a unique and delightful experience – camel rides from Qila Ghat to Sangam Nose. These rides, brought in from Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, have quickly become a popular attraction, especially for families looking for a memorable outing.

With just a week left for the grand religious gathering, crowds of locals and devotees have been visiting the Sangam banks, eager to witness the ongoing preparations. On Sunday, many families explored the camps of seers, saints, and akharas, participating in the sacred rituals and taking a holy dip in the Ganga. This peaceful yet vibrant atmosphere adds to the overall allure of the event.

In addition to the spiritual significance of the Kumbh, the camel rides offer a fun and scenic way to experience the ghats. These camels, adorned with vibrant decorations, have been given endearing names such as Ramu, Ghanshyam, and Radheshyam. The camels have been carefully brought from Rajasthan, with padded seats added to ensure a comfortable ride for visitors, particularly women and children.

Families, especially those with young kids, are drawn to these charming animals, enjoying the camel rides as a unique part of their Kumbh experience. The rides are reasonably priced, with devotees paying a nominal fee of Rs 50 to Rs 100. For convenience, UPI barcode scanners have been tied around the camels’ necks, making transactions easy and seamless.

The camel rides are not just a fun activity but also add to the festive atmosphere surrounding the Kumbh. Food stalls are bustling with visitors, and the lively surroundings make it feel like a joyous picnic by the riverbank.

The Maha Kumbh, which takes place once every 12 years, is set to conclude on February 26. The most significant bathing rituals, known as Shahi Snan, will take place on three key dates during the Maha Kumbh 2025. These sacred moments are scheduled for January 14, coinciding with Makar Sankranti, January 29, which marks Mauni Amavasya, and February 3, aligned with Basant Panchami. Each of these dates is considered highly auspicious, drawing thousands of devotees to the holy waters of the Ganga to seek spiritual purification and blessings. The camel rides, along with other attractions, have become an integral part of the spiritual and cultural experience, drawing both pilgrims and tourists alike to the sacred city of Prayagraj.
