LOS ANGELES: Coronavirus has changed the lifestyle and James Cameron's 'Avatar: The Way of Water' is not untouched by it. The Hollywood director has opted out of the premiere of his much-awated film in Los Angeles after he contracted Covid-19.

Referring to "Variety", Cameron, who hasn't brought a movie he directed to Hollywood's backyard since 2009 when the revolutionary "Avatar" made its debut, is asymptomatic and in good health. He will carry on making virtual film promotion appearances.

The star-studded cast of the movie, which includes Kate Winslet, Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Edie Falco, and Jemaine Clement, will have to suffice for the industry insiders and lucky spectators flooding into the Hollywood and Highland complex Monday night (Pacific Standard Time).

Cameron did go to the movie's international premiere in London last week, according to "Variety." His most recent film, which debuts this Friday, aims to end the year on a high note for distributor Disney.

According to reports, the opening weekend box office should bring in at least USD 150 million. Also, the movie received a release in China, which improved its prospects of being profitable.

Early media screenings of the movie were met with ecstatic praise, with words like "phenomenal," "breathtaking," and "epic" being often used.

As per synopsis, "the sequel is set more than ten years after the events of its predecessor and tells the story of 'the Sully family' (Jake, Neytiri, and their children), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep one another safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.
