OTTACA: The Defence  Minister of Canada Anita Anand said that her nation has approved the deployment of up to 225 members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) to train fresh Ukrainian recruits.

The armed force will send personnel to the UK as part of Operation UNIFIER, Canada's military training and capacity-building mission in Ukraine, the Minister announced in a statement. She also said that for their initial deployment, which will last about four months, the majority of them will serve as trainers.

Around 90 soldiers from the first of perhaps three training batches are slated to leave on August 12 and start teaching classes the next few weeks, according to Anand.

According to the statement, the first Canadian-led courses will be conducted at a military installation in South East England and will cover a variety of topics like weapon handling, battlefield first aid, fieldcraft, patrol tactics, and the Law of Armed Conflict.

The Ukrainian government requested the commencement of Operation UNIFIER in 2015, and it was early this year expanded and given a new deadline of March 2025.

Over 33,000 Ukrainian military and security personnel have received advanced military training and warfare tactics since the operation began.
