Chandigarh: Former Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh and former MP Sunil Jakhar have been appointed by the BJP as members of the party's national executive on Friday (December 2). Along with this, former Congress spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill has been made national spokesperson by the BJP. Rana Gurmeet Sodhi, Manoranjan Kalia, and Amanjot Kaur Ramoowalia have been appointed as special invitees to the BJP's national executive.

UP BJP unit president Swatantra Dev Singh has also been made a member of the national executive. The party has appointed former Uttarakhand BJP chief Madan Kaushik, former party's Chhattisgarh unit president Vishnudeo Sai and former Punjab BJP president Manoranjan Kalia as special invitees to the national working committee. The BJP has issued a statement saying that this decision has come into force with immediate effect.

Former Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jakhar joined the BJP in May 2022 after breaking his family's 50-year-old ties with the Congress. After joining the BJP, Jakhar said, "Three generations of my family have served the Congress party for the last five decades. Today, I have severed five-decade-old ties with the Congress on issues of nationalism, unity, and brotherhood in Punjab. Now I will do politics of nationalism, unity, and brotherhood in Punjab with BJP.''
