The decline in sales of automobile companies between lockdown and corona transition is not new. But not opening the account of auto companies in a month is probably seen for the first time. Sales of cars and other vehicles in the country have been zero in April. The reason has definitely been the Kovid-19 epidemic, which has been put on lockdown by the government since March 25, 2020. Now that the lockdown period has been extended by two weeks to May 17, the month of May will also be huge for these companies. The automobile industry says that they are losing Rs 2,300-2,500 crore daily due to the lockdown. The longer the lockdown lasts, the more difficult it will be for them to return to normalcy once again.

All the major car companies of the country, Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, MG Motors, Tata Motors, Toyota, Mahindra have told that they have not sold a single car in April. Maruti Suzuki, which has around 50 per cent stake in the country's car industry, has said that it has exported 632 vehicles from Mundra Port only in April. It was only possible that the company's cars had already reached there. Manufacturing is stopped in all these companies from March 20-22, 2020. Hyundai has said that it too has not been sold domestically but has exported 1,341 cars. Mahindra & Mahindra has also exported only 733 vehicles. It has also stopped its domestic production. The story of two-wheeler companies is no different. Their plants are also closed, the sale is closed.

Regarding this matter, car companies say that despite the end of the lockdown at the national level, it will be very difficult for them to increase the speed of sales. The mood of the Indian automobile market was already very sluggish and sales had been falling for a year. Now that the economic growth rate is being said to be reduced to one percent, it will be a big challenge for car companies to find new buyers in the market.
