Islamabad: Pakistan's Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that court cases would be slapped within 72 hours against persons making derogatory remarks against Pak Army.

The Express Tribune newspaper quoted Minister Rashid as saying,"Cases will be registered against people using foul language against the armed forces within 72 hours." The minister issued the warning a day after PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said the armed forces had taken the country "hostage" and created a "deep state".The minister issued the warning a day after PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said the armed forces had taken the country "hostage" and created a "deep state". Fazl had said the Opposition was yet to decide whether their upcoming protest march would be to the Islamabad, or in Rawalpindi.

In recent months, The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has severely criticised the Pakistan Army and its interference in political affairs. The PDM has alleged that the Army installed "puppet"  PM Imran Khan in 2018 through a manipulated election.
