The first even World Braille Day was celebrated on January 4 in 2019, later it was approved by the United Nations General Assembly.

Braille is a language used by visually impaired for reading and writing. The world over, Braille had supported several people in reading and writing.  Louis Braille lost his sight when he was 3-years-old after he met with an accident. The eyes got infected and Braille lost his vision completely.

In spite of his blindness, Braille excelled academically and went to the Royal Institute for Blind Youth on a scholarship. When he was studying at the institute, Braille developed a tactile code to help people with blindness read and write.

Later, Braille constructed a new method inspired by the military cryptography of Charles Barbier. Braille presented his work in public for the first time in 1824. A few years later, Braille served as a professor and spent a major time of his life extending the system. Braille published the system for the first time in 1829.
