Patna: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Friday said an all-party meeting will be held soon to decide on conducting a caste-based census in the state. He said, "I have made it clear before that the option of conducting a state-specific census is open to us. Nitish Kumar has earlier expressed his support for the caste census terming it as a need of the hour.

He said, "We (all political parties) will discuss the matter soon. An all-party meeting will be convened soon to arrive at a decision with the approval of all for the exercise. Whatever decision is taken will be taken unanimously. He had earlier met PM Modi as the leader of an all-party delegation demanding the inclusion of OBC (OBCs) in the caste census.

On RJD chief Lalu Yadav's remarks that caste-based census requires a nationwide movement just like the farmer's movement, Nitish Kumar said, "I don't know what he (Lalu Yadav) has said. But a decision on this will be taken soon''. Leaders of all political parties including RJD will sit together and discuss the demand for the caste-based census in Bihar.
