The Central Bureau of Investigation filed seven additional FIRs in connection with suspected violence in West Bengal following the state Assembly elections on Sunday. The total number of FIRs in the system now stands at 28.
The central investigation agency filed ten additional cases in connection with the post-election violent incidents on Saturday. There is a good chance that further FIRs will be filed. In one of the earlier FIRs, the CBI also detained two people. According to reports, the CBI detained Biju and Aasima Ghosh, who is suspected of beating BJP supporter Ayan Mondal and two others with bamboo sticks in the Nadia district on May 14. In the direction of the court, the CBI is conducting the investigation.
The court had ordered the CBI to investigate all alleged rape and murder cases in West Bengal following the state assembly elections. Following this, the CBI formed special teams to investigate West Bengal's post-election violence.
