New Delhi: The Citizenship Amendment Bill 2019 also passed in the Upper House of Parliament on Wednesday. Now it will take the form of law after the signature of President Ramnath Kovind. With this, the way will be cleared to give Indian citizenship to the Hindus, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Jains, and Parsis who came to India from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. Giving information to the media, the woman named Aarti has told that she named her daughter as Nagrikta because the bill was passed only after the birth of the girl child and she saw a new ray of hope that they will now get the identity which they were expecting for a long time. With the passage of the Citizenship Amendment Bill from the Rajya Sabha, there was a festive atmosphere in the settlement of Pakistani Hindus in Delhi's 'ajnu Ka Tila' area.
The refugees expressed their happiness by burning firecrackers, whistling and clapping. The children cheered by waving the tricolor and burning firecrackers. While chanting slogans of 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' and 'Jai Hind', the elders greeted each other and distributed sweets.
