The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday approved the increase in the minimum support price (MSP) of rabi crops. Under this, the MSP of wheat has been increased by Rs 85 per quintal, while that of gram has been increased by Rs 255 per quintal and by Rs 325 in lentils. This increase has been made considering the MSP as the basis for the year 2019-20.

For your information, let us tell you that this increase was approved in the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) meeting held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Giving information about the decisions, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said that this initiative of the government is a step taken towards doubling the income of farmers by 2022. With this, six thousand rupees are being given every year to the farmers under the Kisan Samman Nidhi. Under this, most farmers have received two to three installments till now.

According to the media report, the CCEA has approved an increase in the minimum support price of five crops for the Rabi season for the marketing season 2020-21. Under this, an increase of 85 rupees has been made in wheat and barley. Under this, the minimum support price of wheat has been increased from Rs 1840 per quintal to 1925. Similarly, the MSP of barley has also been increased from Rs 1440 per quintal to Rs 1525.
