New Delhi: The results of the Haryana and Maharashtra assembly elections to be announced on Thursday 24 October will determine the stature of Chief Ministers Manohar Lal Khattar and Devendra Fadnavis. If both the states get more seats than the last time, then the Chief Ministers will increase in the party, while if there is loss of seats, then the leadership of both the houses within the party can also raise questions.

Sources in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) say that both Khattar and Fadnavis were well aware of this before the elections, which is why they gave full strength. Even before the election schedule was announced, the journey through all the seats created an atmosphere in support of the party. In fact, in the 2014 assembly elections, the party contested in both the states without determining any local face. The Modi government came to power in May.
