In this case, neither your electricity connection will be cut nor any penalty will be paid. For this, a letter is being sent by the Union Ministry of Power to the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary of all the states. Earlier, the Central Government on Saturday approved a relief package for the power distribution companies of the states.

The Union Ministry of Power says that due to the lockdown, the power distribution companies of the states are not getting full revenue. They are unable to pay the electricity and transmission companies in full. Obviously, when they do not have income, how will they make the payment. Therefore, just like the Reserve Bank has given a three-month concession by paying EMI installments, similar arrangements have been made in the power sector as well.
