NEW DELHI: The 'Muslim Women (Protection of Marriage Rights) Bill, which was introduced in the Lok Sabha after its passage in the Lok Sabha, has been introduced by Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad in the Upper House today. The government wants to pass the bill in the Rajya Sabha at all costs, so the BJP has issued instructions to all its MPs to be present in the House full time on Tuesday.
The BJP has issued a 3-line whip to all the members on Monday. The whip issued by the party said that members of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will be present on Tuesday and will support the bills introduced by the government. The bill is expected to be tabled in the House at 12 noon. On the other hand, the Samajwadi Party (SP) does not want the bill to be passed in the Rajya Sabha.
So, to oppose the bill, the SP has already asked all its MPs to be present in the House full time. In the Rajya Sabha, SP Chief Whip Ravi Verma told all MPs that since several important bills are likely to come to the Rajya Sabha next week, the presence of all MPs is very essential.
