Bangalore: Amid the ongoing 'Chaddi' controversy in Karnataka, Union Minister Prahlad Joshi on Tuesday attacked Congress. He said that people have taken off their 'Chaddi'. The entire controversy started when some members of the Congress's student wing, the National Students' Union of India (NSUI), lit Khaki shorts outside the residence of state Education Minister BC Nagesh against the alleged 'saffronisation' of school books in the state. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said, "Siddaramaiah and Congress party's 'Chaddi' is loose already.

Joshi attacked the Congress, saying, "The people of Uttar Pradesh have taken off their Chaddi in front of the entire country. It was also dropped in Assam and now a pilot and others in Rajasthan are loosening the congress' Chaddi. In Chhattisgarh, it has become loose. In Madhya Pradesh, the chaddi has been removed. Congress has lost its tights everywhere. In fact, Siddaramaiah had attacked the RSS, questioning whether the people associated with the organisation were native Indians, Dravidians or "Aryans".

The Congress leader said the RSS claims to be the sole protector of Hindus, but it only supports the BJP. He asked if he did not see Hindus outside the BJP. Siddaramaiah asked, "On the basis of what criteria has the Sangh decided that only BJP leaders are Hindus?" According to the RSS, what should be the criteria for calling someone a Hindu? The chaddi ones do the work of the chaddi only. '
