The doors of Kedarnath Dham are scheduled to open on April 29, and this time for the first time Baba Kedar's Doli can be taken from the vehicle to Gaurikund from Ukhimath. It is said that earlier in the year 1977, the doli was being taken by vehicle from Ukhimath, but the doli was taken into Guptkashi itself in view of the opposition of the then MLA Pratap Singh Pushpavan, who was protesting against the animal sacrifice. Later, the jamini took the doli on foot and took it to Kedarnath via Gaurikund.

It is said that till 1977, the Ashtami of Navratri of Ashwini month in the Panchkadar Gaddisthal Onkareshwar temple was sacrificed at the entrance during Chandika Pujan. Along with this, there was a provision of sacrifice in a place called Sera. At the same time Pushpavan, the then MLA, staged a sit-in protesting this practice. Along with this, they also warned that if the animal sacrifice is not stopped, they will not let Kedarnath's doli go to the temple. Along with this, he also sought written trust from the temple committee in this regard, but did not get any reply.

When the time came to open the doors of the temple in 1977, Baba Kedar's Doli was sent from the vehicle to Ukhimath to Gaurikund in view of the opposition of Pushpavana. Pushpavana came to know of this and stopped the vehicle after reaching Guptkashi. Former chief Laxmi Prasad Bhatt said that the doli was taken to Gaurikund by way of a pavement.  At the same time, the then Vedapathi and priest of Chandika temple, Acharya Harsha Jamaloki said that former MLA Pushpavan had played an important role in shutting down the animal sacrifice while alive.
