Hyderabad: Fire broke out in a compartment of Charminar Express on Tuesday. The incident took place when the train, which was headed for daily maintenance caught fire at platform number 6 in Nampally railway station. According to the sources, A fire engulfed compartment S2 of Charminar express halted at platform number 6 in Nampally railway station on Tuesday. As all the passengers deboarded the train, no casualties have been reported.

The railway staff swung into action and separated the coach from the train and informed fire tenders who rushed to the station and put out the fire after much difficulty. A railway official said, “Around 10 am, the public on the platform noticed smoke emitting from one of the coaches of the train and alerted the authorities immediately. The station officials informed fire tenders who rushed to the platform and brought the fire under control.”
According to the railway officials, the fire occurred due to a short circuit. The officials further informed that the coach was replaced with another coach, thus not affecting the departure of the train scheduled at 6.30 pm on Tuesday evening. The Charminar Express is one of the busiest trains with thousands of passengers traveling between Hyderabad and Chennai every day.
