New Delhi: The trend of bumper discounts in liquor prices has once again started in the country's capital Delhi. An order in this regard has also been issued by the Excise Department of the Delhi Government. In fact, the excise department has allowed private shops to give up to 25 per cent discount on the maximum retail price (MRP) of liquor.

After this order, the round of discounts and offers at the liquor shops has started again. Under the government order, shopkeepers will now be able to offer up to 25 per cent discount on mrp of liquor bottles. Earlier in February, the government had put a stop to exemptions and schemes being given by liquor shops in view of violation of coronavirus-related guidelines and unhealthy market practices.

An order issued by the Delhi Excise Commissioner on Friday said the government has recommended that a discount or rebate of up to 25 per cent of the MRP on sale of liquor under the Delhi Excise Rules, 2010 in the jurisdiction of the National Capital of Delhi (NCT) will be allowed with strict compliance with Rule 20. Under Section 4 of the Delhi Excise Act, the Excise Commissioner has ordered that licensed vendors can offer a maximum discount of up to 25 per cent of mrp on sale of liquor in Delhi.
