Ranchi: A case of suspension of two students celebrating Hindu New Year at Jagannathpur Polytechnic College in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand has come to light. It is also being told that the food of 500 Hindu students has also been stopped. According to reports, the celebration of Hindu New Year is indisciplined according to the college management. A video of the incident is also rapidly going viral on social media, in which it is claimed to have spoken to the convicted students. The incident took place on April 2, 2022 (Saturday).

According to media reports, some students alleged that on Saturday, some students had gathered on the roof of the hostel to celebrate the Hindu New Year. During this time, these students raised the slogan of Jai Shri Ram. Meanwhile, the principal of the school Sanjeev Kumar came there. On learning about his arrival, many students rushed to their rooms in the hostel. When the principal reached, three students Amrit, Ghanshyam and another met him on the spot. The principal was told that the organizers of the event were the same three students. The principal suspended two of these students and expelled one student from the college. The students, who were angry with the principal's action, also had an argument with him. The students demanded the suspension of everyone involved in the programme.

It is being told that in the evening, the mess of the school was also closed. A person named Ashwani Srivastava tagged the entire incident and tweeted the entire incident to CM Hemant Soren and some others. In the same video, it is also claimed that the food of 500 Hindu students has been stopped. As soon as the video of the incident went viral on social media, the local administration swung into action. At the same time, the principal of the school has given his explanation of this incident. The principal said, "The things tweeted to CM Soren are completely wrong. Children of every religion study in college. Some students chanted Jai Shri Ram on the roof of the college. This has a wrong effect on the environment. That is why I have suspended students named Amrit and Ghanshyam. The families of these students have also been called. Amrit is the topper student in our school. Someone has provoked him.'

Principal Sanjeev further said, "The thing that shuts down the mess is also wrong. The work of running the mess is done by the students themselves. We give them food. Why would I close the mess in such a situation? I have reported the incident to the local police station and BDO. A 7-member team of staff led by senior teacher M S Jha has been formed to investigate the matter. We don't want to spoil the future of a student, but we want to keep them in the discipline. It is wrong to say that a student is expelled.''
