Melbourne: The Australian Government has lodged a serious concern with Qatari authorities. This was done due to a report that said women were stripped and examined in a Doha-Sydney flight as the body of a newborn was found at the airport. On October 2, women boarding flight number QR908 from Doha to Sydney were unloaded at Hamad International Airport and their ambulances stripped off and checked.

Qatari authorities did this to find out if any of them had given birth to the newborn found at the airport. A fellow flight passenger told the media that the women were presented to a female doctor and their clothes taken off and checked. They were asked to take off everything, even underwear. The doctor then examined them and tried to find out if any of them had recently given birth to a child. Actually, someone had told that the body of a child has been found in the toilet. So she was trying to find out who his mother is.

In a statement, the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFT) said that we have formally lodged serious concerns about the incident with Qatari authorities. A DFT spokesman told The Sydney Morning Herald that, 'the Australian Government is aware of reports related to the investigation of female passengers, including Australian nationals, at the Doha (Hamad) Airport in Qatar'.
