The state of Tamil Nadu continues to grapple with the aftermath of Cyclone Michaung, with Chennai facing significant challenges due to waterlogging in several areas. The cyclone, which struck earlier this month, brought heavy rains, strong winds, and inflicted damage to infrastructure and residences, resulting in loss of lives.

In Chennai, efforts are underway to restore normalcy after the cyclone's impact. The Chennai Police, through persistent efforts and collaboration with various departments, successfully reopened most roads, alleviating the city's traffic congestion. Additionally, the police engaged in relief operations, distributing milk in the Adyar district, and assisting in water removal in areas like VGP Selva Nagar and Velacherry.

Similar relief initiatives were witnessed in the Koyambedu district, where police teams provided food packets to flood-affected individuals in the New Colony Area and Valasaravakkam.

Acknowledging the critical situation in Tamil Nadu, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh pledged comprehensive support from the Central Government. He revealed that an initial tranche of Rs 450 crore, the Central share for the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), has been released. The Defence Minister personally assessed the cyclone-hit areas, conducting an aerial survey and holding meetings with the Chief Minister and other officials to strategize effective responses.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi is deeply concerned about the loss of lives in Tamil Nadu. He is overseeing our response to this crisis personally," stated Rajnath Singh, expressing determination to improve the situation with coordinated efforts.
