The Singara Chennai is set to have 62 KM long Outer Ring Road (ORR) to ease the flow of traffic from Southern districts to Andhra Pradesh and beyond. The proposal was made before two decades. The ORR from Vandalur to Minjur will be expected to be opened in the first week of November. Vandalur to Nemilichery was opened in 2014 in the first phase and the due to land acquisition issues the second phase, Nemilichery to Minjur is delayed, a 210 meter stretch is being delayed.

The change in roads is the priority of the main roads

The ORR was made in an effort to reduce traffic congestion by connecting the National highways to the city. The ORR will play a key role in the development of Tidel Park-3 in Pattabiram across 5.57 lakh square feet generating 25,000 jobs approximately. Four toll booths at Varadharajapuram, Kolappancheri, Palavedu and Chinnamullaivoyal is to be set up. Tamil Nadu Road Development Company develops the toll plazas and collect user fee for Chennai Outer Ring Road. The corpus fund generated by the toll booth will be utilized for future projects.

Tamil Nadu Urban Infrastructure Financial Services Limited is looking for a consultant for preparing a feasibility report to develop the 50-metre stretch along Outer Ring Road. 122 meters of land has been acquired for the development of ORR corridor, of which 50 meters for road development comprising two carriage way of 25 meters each, 22 meters for public transport corridor between the right and left carriage way and 50 meters for commercial developments.
