CHENNAI: Upping the Ante to Indian Chess Olympiad team, Tamil Nadu Chief minster MK Stalin announced Rs. 1  cro price for Indian teams.

India-B and A-Women’s teams simultaneously would be honoured with a cash prize of Rs 1 crore each for winning bronze medals in the FIDE 44th Chess Olympiad, Chief Minister M K Stalin announced on Wednesday.
The Tamil Nadu government successfully organised the worldwide indoor sports competition, receiving accolades from all around the world, said the Chief Minister.

The nearby city of Mamallapuram hosted the FIDE Chess Olympiad, which ran from July 28 to August 9. In the Open division, the India "B" team settled for a bronze medal, while on Tuesday, the India "A" women's team similarly placed third.

The Chief Minister expressed his joy over the two teams taking home medals in a statement, saying they had brought honour to the nation.
