New Delhi: BCCI's Cricket Advisory Committee has made former Indian pacer Chetan Sharma the chairman of the senior national selection panel on Thursday. The CAC also selected Abe Kuruvilla of Mumbai and Debasish Mohanty of Odisha in the five-member team. The new panel was set up during the 89 annual general meetings of BCCI in which Sharma beats Maninder Singh and Vijay Dahad from the northern region.

Chetan Sharma told the media, "It is certainly an honour for me to have the opportunity to serve Indian cricket once again. I don't speak much because my work will speak. "I only thank BCCI for this opportunity," he said. Former medium-speed bowler Kuruvilla had the support of the Mumbai cricket association's big officials, preferred Ajit Agarkar from the West region.

Former Odisha Pacer Mohanty had been working as a junior national selector for the last two years and will remain in the Committee for just two years. The selection panel also includes former Indian luminaries Sunil Joshi (South Zone) and Harvinder Singh (central region). "The committee recommended Chetan Sharma for the chief selector of the senior men's selection committee on the basis of seniority (total number of Test matches)," BCCI secretary Jay Shah said in a press release.
