All of you will know about Chhath Puja, it comes 6 days after Deepawali, this festival is done to worship Suryadev. This festival is most celebrated in North India especially in Bihar. Chhath Puja is the festival of worship of Suryadev. According to mythological beliefs, Chhath Mata is considered the sister of the Sun God. Chhath Puja brings happiness, peace and prosperity to the house.


Chhath Puja 


In Chhath Puja, Arghya is offered to the rising sun and the setting sun. There is a tradition of worshiping and worshiping Suryadev on two big occasions in a year. The first Chaitra Shukla Paksha Shashthi and the second Kartik month Shukla Paksha Shashthi are done. Chhath Puja takes place for four days. In Chhath Puja, women who keep a fast, pray for the child to attain glory and fame like the Sun to the sixth mother.

Four days of Chhath Puja

Nahay Khay - the first day of Chhath Puja - Women begin Chhath Puja on the Chaturthi of Kartik Shukla Paksha with Nahay Khay. On this day women take bath and wear new clothes and take vegetarian food.


Kharna, the second day of Chhath Puja - On the second day i.e. Panchami Tithi of Kartik Shukla, all women observes fast. This is called kharna. Nirjala fasting is observed on this day. Kheer is eaten in the evening with rice and jaggery. Rice pits and ghee roti are also distributed as khai prasad.


Third day of Chhath Puja Surya Shashthi - On the third day special worship of Sun God is done. On this day, offerings and fruits are decorated in a beautiful form in a bamboo basket. All the fasting women take the basket, go to the pond, river or ghat etc. to offer the sun. Bathing is done to worship the setting sun.

The fourth day of Chhath Puja ends
On the fourth day of Chhath Puja, Puja and Arghya are also performed on the Saptami of Kartik Shukla Paksha and Chhath Puja is done by distributing prasad.
