Between the lockdown and the Corona crisis, the Bhupesh Baghel government of Chhattisgarh has implemented a justice scheme for farmers, which may prove to be a foremost in the matter of helping farmers in the coming times. Under this scheme, which started on the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, 18.35 lakh farmers of the state will be given direct financial assistance of Rs 1500 crore. Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel introduced the scheme on Thursday through video conferencing.

Every paddy, maize and sugarcane farmer of the state will get direct financial help of Rs 7500. In the scheme, it has been announced to help farmers of every category. These include nine lakh 53 thousand 706 marginal farmers, five lakh 60 thousand 284 small farmers and three lakh 20 thousand 844 big farmers. This is the first instalment of the plan. The entire plan is divided into four instalments.

The Chhattisgarh government has provided huge financial assistance to sugarcane farmers. The state government has announced to pay sugarcane farmers at the rate of Rs 355 per quintal in the crushing year 2019-20. 73 crore rupees will be paid to 34637 farmers from this government scheme. Apart from this, the bonus amount will also be given to the sugarcane farmers at the rate of Rs 50 per quintal on purchases made in 2018-19. This will help 10.27 crore rupees to about 25 thousand farmers of the state.
