New Delhi: Raipur: Chhattisgarh is all set to host the 85th plenary session of the Indian National Congress in Raipur from February 24.
Speaking at a press meet at the party headquarters in New Delhi, Congress general secretary in-charge Organisation KC Venugopal said, "The 85th Plenary session of Indian National Congress will commence on February 24 and conclude on February 26 in Chhattisgarh's Raipur."
The 3-day plenary session discussion will be held on 6 major issues including, political, economic and international affairs. "There will be 6 key subjects that will be debated and discussed. These are economic, political, international affairs, farmers and agriculture, social justice and empowerment, youth, education and employment," Venugopal mentioned.
The decision to hold the 85th Congress plenary session was taken at the first meeting of Congress steering committee, constituted by party president Mallikarjun Kharge after taking over as the party chief.
Last month, the Congress had announced to hold its 85th plenary session in Raipur. However, the party did not revealk the date.
Hosting of 85th Congress plenary session in Chhattisgarh assumes importance as the state is all set to go for assembly elections by November this year. Since formation of Chhattisgarh 22 years ago, this is for the prime time that the Congress is holding its convention in Chhattisgarh.
