Congress's Rajya Sabha member P. Chidambaram on Saturday targeted the central government over the increase in unemployment and the economic downturn. He said, the government must admit that it has made a mistake and request former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to advise on the sinking economy. Addressing the students on the topic 2020-21, Chidambaram said, 'This is the poorest opponent ever The government. Rural India and the agricultural sector are in poor condition. At least the government can do so much that it accepts the mistake and tells Dr. Manmohan Singh to come and advise us.

According to media reports, while targeting Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, he compared the budget-2020 speech to 'Satyanarayana Katha'. Chidambaram said, 'Why does the Finance Minister not want to tell the economic situation of the country? If I had read the story of Satyanarayana, I would have known what he said while presenting the budget.

Let us tell you that GDP never fell for six consecutive quarters in the history of India. I don't know what will happen in the seventh quarter. Input has been lacking for the last eight months and this government is denying it. He called demonetisation and GST as two big mistakes. He clearly said that the BJP-led NDA government has proved inefficient and helpless in handling the economy. After the Union Budget, now the Rajasthan government has also started preparing for the budget. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is also the Finance Minister of the government and so last Friday and Saturday he had long discussions with industrial and business organizations, agricultural organizations, youth, women, professionals and voluntary organizations etc. and asked for suggestions for the budget. The state budget is likely to be presented on 17 February.
