Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami actively engaged in pre-nomination activities for Tehri Lok Sabha candidate Mala Rajyalakshmi Shah, participating in a lively roadshow in Dehradun on Tuesday.
The streets were thronged with thousands of enthusiastic supporters welcoming Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami during the roadshow. Joyous scenes unfolded as people showered flowers and chanted slogans in his support, to which the Chief Minister responded by showering flowers back and waving at the crowd.
In a parallel event, BJP candidate Anil Baluni, contesting from the Pauri Garhwal Lok Sabha seat, arrived at the Pauri district headquarters to submit his nomination papers in the presence of Union Minister Smriti Irani. Following the nomination, Baluni is slated to address a public gathering. Concurrently, Congress candidate Jot Singh Gunsola filed his nomination papers for the Tehri Lok Sabha seat.
The parliamentary elections for all five Lok Sabha seats in Uttarakhand are scheduled to take place in a single phase on April 19. In the 2019 general elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured victory across all five seats with a commanding vote share of 61.7 percent. The Congress party, on the other hand, garnered a vote share of 31.7 percent, while the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) received 4.5 percent of the votes.
Earlier, on Monday, Chief Minister Dhami joined in the festive spirit by attending the Holi Milan programme at his official residence in Dehradun. The atmosphere was vibrant with traditional Holi songs, accompanied by the rhythmic beats of Dhol-Damauru, echoing through the premises.
Chief Minister Dhami also marked the occasion by celebrating Holi with Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh, along with former Uttarakhand Chief Ministers Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri, and Harish Rawat at his residence.
