The historic decision to abolish Article 370 was taken in the Lok Sabha of India. After which four former Chief Ministers in centrally administered Jammu and Kashmir will no longer get housing, telephone, electricity, petrol, driver and health facilities at government expense. The Central Government has abolished the constitutional provisions which ensure these facilities for the former Chief Ministers of Jammu and Kashmir. In Jammu and Kashmir, four former Chief Ministers Dr Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti and Ghulam Nabi Azad.

According to media reports, the central government has abolished sub-section three of section three of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislature Pension Act 1984. Under this section, various facilities and allowances were made for the former Chief Ministers of Jammu and Kashmir. Under this provision, the former Chief Ministers government residential facility, every year for the decoration and facilities of the residential complex, Rs 35 thousand, free telephone service up to Rs 48 thousand every year, free electricity, car, petrol, health up to Rs 1500 every month. Services and drivers etc. are provided. Apart from this, there was a provision to provide a personal assistant, a special assistant and two peons to the former chief ministers at government expense.

Concerned officials in this matter said that the Jammu and Kashmir Law Commission had sent a report to the Center some time ago regarding the new laws to be implemented in the context of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, making necessary amendments in the old laws. Taking cognizance of the same report, the Central Government has withdrawn all the facilities given to former Chief Ministers of Jammu and Kashmir last night.
