In a significant development, the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has greenlit Tata Sons' ambitious plan to construct a Rs 650 crore 'museum of temples' in Ayodhya. This project, funded through Tata's corporate social responsibility (CSR) fund, aims to showcase India's rich temple heritage and architectural marvels. The museum is set to include innovative features like a potential light-and-sound show to enhance visitor experience.

Alongside this cultural initiative, the state cabinet has allocated an additional Rs 100 crore for Ayodhya's overall development. This funding underscores efforts to bolster infrastructure and tourism in the historic city. Moreover, the cabinet has approved the introduction of helicopter services connecting Lucknow, Prayagraj, and Kapilvastu, enhancing accessibility and promoting tourism across key destinations.

The museum project, which has been in the pipeline since last year, received significant endorsement following discussions between Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and senior officials in September. As part of the agreement, the tourism department will lease land for the museum on a 90-year term for a nominal fee of Re 1, facilitating the project's realization.

Tourism Minister Jaivir Singh emphasized the importance of this initiative, highlighting its potential to attract visitors and celebrate India's cultural heritage:

"The museum will provide a platform to showcase India's temple history through innovative displays and exhibits."

In addition to the museum, Tata Sons has proposed Rs 100 crore for developmental projects aimed at further improving Ayodhya's infrastructure and tourism facilities. This holistic approach aims to transform Ayodhya into a prominent cultural and tourist destination.

Further enhancing Uttar Pradesh's tourism potential, the cabinet has approved the launch of helicopter services under a public-private partnership model, along with the development of necessary infrastructure such as helipads. Additionally, three heritage sites—Kothi Roshan Dulha in Lucknow, Barsana Jal Mahal in Mathura, and Shukla Talab in Kanpur—will be revitalized to attract tourists and enrich cultural experiences.

Urban Development Minister A K Sharma announced plans to expand the sewage system in Ayodhya's outskirts under the Amrit Yojana-2 programme, with an allocated budget of Rs 351.40 crore. Moreover, local bodies' financial contributions to the Amrit Yojana scheme have been revised to reduce the burden on municipalities, further supporting infrastructure development across the state.

These concerted efforts signify Uttar Pradesh's commitment to enhancing tourism, infrastructure, and preserving its rich cultural heritage. The initiatives aim to elevate Ayodhya and other key locations into globally recognized tourist destinations, fostering economic growth and cultural appreciation.
