New Delhi: Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud on Friday (December 2) said that it is his personal opinion that children should be taught as little as possible. "Instead of creating a plethora of information, we should help open their minds," he told a petitioner seeking guidelines for the inclusion of history and geography related to the Northeast in the school curriculum.

The CJI-led bench, however,  refused to consider the plea, saying these were matters of academic policy and the court could not direct the government on what to teach children. On Friday, Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud also marked his presence among a crowd of judges, lawyers, former bureaucrats, and Congress leaders for the Dr. L M Singhvi Memorial Lecture.

Let me tell you, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal was also sitting among those who listened to him. After campaigning for the MCD Elections ended, CM Kejriwal surprised everyone by arriving on time for this memorial lecture. No one was expecting his arrival because Arvind Kejriwal's name was not on the invitation card. The cards had the names of CJI DY Chandrachud and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar as chief guests.
