Beijing: China has decided to ban the import of any product related to pig or wild boar from India. This step has been taken to avoid African Swine Fever (ASF). The official media gave information in this regard that a notice has been issued by the concerned ministry. However, this is also seen to be linked with the ongoing deadlock over LAC between India and China in Ladakh. China is accusing India of illegal construction there.

The report of the Chinese newspaper Global Times said that the first case of swine fever in India was reported from Assam earlier this month. It has been said by the Ministry that from the beginning of the year pigs have been in need of treatment and cases of their deaths are increasing. The disease was first found in China's Liaoning Province in August 2018. Since then the average price of pork in 2019 was 51.77 yuan (USD 7.10) per kg. Pork is an important food for most of China's population.

For the past several days there has been some tension in the relationship between India and China. China is alleging that India has made illegal construction in Ladakh and has deployed its troops on the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Meanwhile, the US has also jumped into it and President Donald Trump has said that he is willing to mediate between the two countries. However, India has categorically denied and said talks are continuing with China.
