Due to the outbreak of Coronavirus in China, the annual session of Parliament has been postponed. The Parliament session was to begin on March 5. For the first time in many decades, such an unexpected step has been taken under the ruling Communist Party of China.

The meetings of the NPC and the apex consulting organization Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) are held in March every year and the annual agenda of the government including the budget is approved.
