China denies Visa to 'Miracle from Chandigarh'

New Delhi: India's one of the oldest runner Man Kaur who is 101-year-old Indian runner was denied visa by China to take participation in the Asian Masters Athletics Championships. 

At the age of 93 i.e eight years ago she began running and she was preparing herself to participate in the 100m, 200m shot put and javelin categories in the China Masters in Rugao. She had been training for the competition at home in Punjab state. She is the only Indian athlete denied visa by the Chinese Embassy. The Asian Masters Athletics Championships begin on Tuesday.

In April at the World Masters Games in New Zealand, she earned the 100m gold medal in the 100+ category and she is called as 'Miracle from Chandigarh'. This year she clinched the 100m gold at the World Masters Games in Auckland. The Asia Masters Athletics Championships will be held in Rugao (Jiangsu). Man Kaur started training with son Gurdev after shifting to Chandigarh.

Regarding the denying Visa to her, In a telephonic conversation with ANI, Kaur said, "I was planning to participate in the tournament and have applied for a visa. But the embassy rejected my application citing the reason that I don't have an official invite. I explained that my name is enrolled there, you can check it, but still, they denied me the visa."
